Streets of Chernobyl

Our tour to Chernobyl was scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

Entry into the zone of exclusion is only allowed with proper authorizations and a tour guide. I was in contact with our guide Yuriy from the Chernobyl InterInform agency – that’s the official state authority – a couple of weeks before the trip and had arranged a 7:30 pickup from a street close to our apartment. I apparently woke him by a phone call at 7:15. “Yes, I will be there in 20 minutes”, he said, which our Riga colleagues translated as: “I will get out of bed now.” › Continue reading

Great start at Arte Binningen!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 | exhibitions, video | No Comments

The exhibition had a great start, and is running strong! Thanks a lot for all the kind feedback from all the visitors and friends that came over so far!

Visitors seem to fall into four categories: 1) People who love the fruit pictures and are hesitant about the others, 2) people who see the fruit pictures as an interesting addition to the industrial ones, 3) people who don’t seem to care about either, and 4) elderly ladies who try to convince me of the coming alien invasion after the big world war.

Arte Binningen is still open until next Sunday, 26 October. If you have time to drop by, don’t miss it – Binningen is just one #2 tram stop away from Basel!

PS: The new postcards have arrived – in case you wanted some, but they were sold out on Sunday, this is your chance!

Clouds & Pizza

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 | time-lapse, video | No Comments

It’s been quiet the last couple of weeks. To keep you in the loop, I have been concentrating on video, and published a couple of movies on YouTube. Check out my channel at:

The videos are timelapse experiments involving clouds, cities, and pizza [link] [link] [link] . In parallel I am working on a three urban exploration clips about an abandoned brewery in Eastern Germany- stay tuned!

Meanwhile, you can always check out my older clips about the abandoned hotel [link] and the toxic fabric coloring plant [link]
